UpperMidwestFlyFishing is
now accepting advertising on our
site. We think
that UpperMidwestFlyFishing.com (UMFF) has come
a long way in it's short history and that it is
an unique fly fishing website in the
Midwest because of our efforts to educate fly
fishers and to give back to the fly fishing
community, more on this below. We
will be strictly limiting the number of
"run-of-site" advertisers in order to keep ad
clutter to a minimum to maximize the
effectiveness of each ad. Each advertiser will
have access to their own control panel where
they can track the number of times their ad is
seen and the number of click throughs that the
ads receive. Currently,
ads for the
www.DriftlessAngler.com are positioned as "placemarkers"
where the ads will rotate. I expect to have ads
rotating be end the week of April 14th.
UpperMidwestFlyFishing.com (UMFF)
is the only website focused exclusively
on fly fishing in the
Upper Midwest states of Michigan,
Wisconsin, Minnesota, and northern Iowa,
Illinois & Indiana. UMFF attracts a wide range
of anglers who fish for trout, warm water
species and steelhead & salmon. Many also
travel to fly fishing destinations outside of
the Upper Midwest. Advertisements will rotate
not only on the main website but also on UMFF's Fly Fishing Forums and
Photo Gallery
as well. The
Photo Gallery
already has over 5,400
pictures in it and has been viewed over 1,700,000
times. In
addition to "run-of-site" advertising, UMFF is
launching a monthly HTML e-newsletter
starting in May. This
monthly e-newsletter will go out to not only
the registered members of UMFF's fly fishing
forums but also to the list of people who have
signed up for the newsletter but are not
registered on the forums. Ads will be rotated
on the e-newsletter as well, i.e. - what ad an
e-newsletter reader sees will vary and all
advertisers will have their ads displayed.
Advertising rates are very
affordable. The first group of advertisers pay
only $225.00
from the time that they sign up until July
30th, 2009. Afterwards, rates will be $275.00
per year. This
introductory rate is only available for a short
time. How do you get started? Easy,
make a payment of $225.00
and send us your ads. We need a 125 x 125
button and a 468 x 60 banner ad. We will also
be able to use ads of different sizes if you
have them. Don't have any on-line ads? No
problem, for an additional $100.00
we will create two ads for you. Of course, you
will have to supply us with pictures, artwork
and sense of what you want to promote.
Why are we
taking advertising now and where will your ad
dollars go? Part of the ad money will go to the
website's operating costs and planned software
upgrades. Some will go to the events that we
will be hosting in 2008. We will be having a
cane rod gathering in April and we are planning
on 2 - 3 small spey gathering (not spey claves)
where folk can try spey rods and receive free
casting instructions. These spey gatherings are
based on the successful one we did last October,
we hope to make them monthly events during
months that we are not iced over. Most
importantly, your ad dollars will do good
works in the Upper Midwest. Over the last year
UMFF has given back to the fly fishing
community. UMFF donated approximately 24 rods,
reels and other tackle to troops in Iraq. We
also donated a Winston WT
rod to the West Fork Sportsman's Club -
TU Dare fundraiser. We hope to step up our
donations to local TU and conservation groups in
2008 and
have already donated a rod and reel to Hiawatha
TU (MN), commited to a similar donation
to the West Fork Sportsman's Club;
and, we
are looking for other stream improvement
groups to
support.
